If you have never been certified to work in the City of Chicago (or if your certification has lapsed) you must enroll in a AAFS food service sanitation course. You must also pass the certification exam.
- You must purchase a 7th Edition ServSafe Manager manual, WITH ANSWER SHEET
- You may buy the manual from your AAFS instructor for $65; this cost is separate from your AAFS tuition but does include the exam fee for Chicago certification
- You may purchase the manual and answer sheet on-line at Amazon.com
- If you have a used 7th Edition of the ServSafe Manager manual, it will not contain the answer sheet; in that case you must purchase an answer sheet for $36 from your AAFS teacher
- Tuition must be paid on the first class day
- $280 covers course, book, exam, Illinois and Chicago manager certificates
- OR
- $280 covers online course, review materials, exam, Illinois and Chicago manager certificates
- Please note that the cost of the CDPH manager certificate is $45. This amount is reflected in course costs and on schedule attachments
- AAFS accepts cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, VISA or MasterCard as payment; tuition and fees must be paid on the first day of class
- Your Chicago certificate will be mailed to you in about six weeks
- Certificates are good for FIVE (5) years
- Certification classes are taught in English, and alternate between convenient North side and South side locations
- Free parking is available at all class locations
