SUMMER FESTIVAL FOOD VENDOR
SANITATION SEMINAR
If you plan to work at an outdoor event, you must have a City of Chicago Summer Festival certification.
This three-hour sanitation seminar prepares food vendors to operate in compliance with applicable rules and guidelines
for door food handling. Classes are offered in English or Spanish. All classes are taught by Chicago certified instructors.
This certification is required for all vendors selling food products at outdoor summer events.
There must be a manager on duty who completed the Professional Sanitation Seminar for Summer Festival Food Vendors whenever
food is being handled or prepared.
To obtain certification:
- Enroll in a 3-hour AAFS Summer Festival certification seminar
- Pay your $40 AAFS tuition, which covers the course, materials and certificate
- Tuition must be paid on or before the first day of class
- AAFS accepts cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, Visa or MasterCard in payment of tuition and fees
- Certificates are good until March 31st of the following year
- A Summer Fest course must be taken and passed each year you wish to work at an outdoor event in the City of Chicago
